Frequently asked questions
What is counselling?
Counselling is a confidential service where trained professionals help individuals address personal challenges, emotions, or troubling thoughts. It offers a safe, non-judgemental space to explore feelings, gain clarity, and develop coping strategies. Counselling covers issues like stress, anxiety, relationships, grief, or self-esteem. By working together, counsellors help individuals improve mental health, understand themselves, and grow personally. Whether short or long-term, counselling fosters healing, resilience, and a more fulfilling life.
Is counselling confidential?
Your privacy is my priority, and all shared during our sessions stays confidential. The only exceptions are: 1. If you disclose involvement in or knowledge of criminal activity. 2. If there's a safeguarding concern, such as potential harm or abuse to you, your child, or others. These measures ensure everyone's safety and well-being.
What kind of counselling do you provide?
Integrative counselling is a type of therapy that combines different ideas and techniques from various approaches to help a person. Instead of using just one method, the counsellor mixes methods to suit what the person needs. The goal is to understand the person better and help them improve their feelings, thoughts, or behaviour.
What happens during a counselling session?
Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially at first. We provide a safe, welcoming space to share your thoughts and feelings. You'll address challenges like emotions, relationships, or stress, while your counsellor listens, asks questions, and offers helpful techniques. Counselling is collaborative, guided by your needs, and fully confidential (within legal and ethical limits). The goal is to explore your thoughts, build self-awareness, and find solutions to move forward with confidence.
Do you offer counselling online?
Yes, we offer counselling online, using video call methods. Please ensure you are in a safe and confidential space during your sessions.
How many sessions do I need?
There’s no limit to how many counselling sessions you can attend. Approximately every six weeks, I will check in with you to assess your progress, review your goals, and discuss whether there's anything new you'd like to focus on.
When opting in for the Low Cost Counselling Service, your sessions will take place weekly; usually same day, same time for the duration of your counselling process.
